How College Gave Me More Than a Degree
When I Stepped Into College...
When I stepped into college for my UG, I expected the basics: classrooms, grades, deadlines, and maybe the occasional punishment — usually writing pages and wasting some paper 🌳. I hoped for a decent placement too.
What I didn’t expect was to walk away with something much more valuable — friendships that shaped me and stayed with me beyond the classroom.
🛏️ The Room That Became a Home
College hostels are known for chaos — noisy nights, cold showers, and mystery laundry piles. But in that mess, I found something special: my two roommates.
One was calm and organized — the “everything in place” type. The other? Our room’s entertainer — loud, funny, and full of life. And me? Somewhere in the middle, observing and adapting.
We argued over the fan as if it were a prized possession, sharing snacks, stories, and late-night laughs. Slowly, our room became more than four walls — it became home. We weren’t just roommates. We became brothers.
🦠 When the World Hit Pause
Just when things got comfortable, COVID struck. Rumors flew. We waited for the big announcement — “College shutting down.”
When it came, it was effective the next day.
But before leaving? We had to submit a 180-page record note by morning.
🌙 The Mahashivratri Night
That night was pure madness. We called it “Mahashivratri” — because sleep wasn’t an option.
Dinner ended around 8:30 PM. With phones banned, we had no distractions — just pages to fill and panic to fight.
Then someone smuggled in a tiny speaker. Enter: Deva’s music 🎶. His songs became our fuel — keeping our hands moving and our spirits up. Between the silence and stress, his beats were a blessing.
☀️ Sunrise & Survival
By morning, we were zombies — red eyes, aching backs, fingers sore. But somehow, we managed to make it through.
That night wasn’t just about finishing a record. It was a core memory.
🚪 The Goodbye That Wasn’t a Goodbye
When we left, there were no dramatic farewells. Just tired grins and a quiet promise:
We may be leaving the hostel, but the bond? That stays forever.
